A bookmaking apparatus (1), comprising an adhesive agent reservoir (23) storing adhesive agent thermally molten by heating, a roller (24) rotatably and drivingly pivoted above the adhesive agent reservoir so that the lower part thereof can be immersed in the adhesive agent stored in the adhesive agent reservoir and coating a sheet bundle with the adhesive agent along one side edge thereof, and holding member (18) capable of holding the sheet bundle, wherein the movably formed adhesive agent reservoir (23) and roller (24) are arranged at a wait position on the outside of the longitudinal end edge of the sheet bundle held by the holding member (18) in waiting, heated in the state of non-contact with each other to bring the adhesive agent into molten state, and in bookmaking, integrally moved from the wait position through the generally entire area of the rear surface lower part of the sheet bundle in the longitudinal direction of the sheet bundle. |
