<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication method and a communication apparatus which can perform an uninterrupted communication on a transmission line of redundant configuration having a route length difference exceeding 600km and has a high-order compatibility. <P>SOLUTION: At a transmitting side, phase information is sequentially divided into predetermined bytes of at least two, respectively in the path overhead of a single frame in a transmission signal so as to constitute a multi-frame, and the transmission signal is transmitted while being branched to active and reserve transmission lines. At a receiving side, a phase difference between transmission signals of the active and reserve systems is detected based on the phase information which is detected at the interval of the predetermined bytes with regard to the transmission signals received from the active and reserve transmission lines, respectively, the transmission signals are stored in active and reserve memories, phase adjusting signals are given to the active and reserve memories based on the phase difference, the transmission signals are outputted from the active and reserve memories, respectively in the state of the same phase based on the phase adjusting signals, and the transmission signal outputted from any one of the memories is selected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
