MANUFACTURING METHOD OF PRESS DIE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a press die for producing an optical device and the method being able to get a fine working easily. SOLUTION: A die material being a composit material comprising a glassy carbon and a vapor grown carbon fiber is irradiated with a converged ion beam. A pressing face of the surface of the press die can be fabricated smooth and a smoothness of the pressing face can be improved. Fine works of the press die superior in an impact resistance on pressing can be easily made. The die is suitable for a die for producing a micron-sized optical device such as a microlens or the like.
