PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high definition ink jet recorder in which unevenness of an image is eliminated by preventing sheet discharge smear through a simple arrangement. SOLUTION: Position of a part on a recording medium printed with high print ratio is stored and the fixing completion seconds determined by such parameters as the print ratio, the type of recording medium, and environmental conditions is set at that part. If fixing has not yet completed at such a part as set to cause smear of a previous page during print of next page, print is waited after feeding a sheet and an image is completed without interrupting print.
