A method of manufacturing an electromagnetic flow meter assembly is provided comprising: forming an insert (110) from a deformable material; forming at least one reinforcing component (112); arranging the reinforcing component (112) around a portion of the insert (110); bonding the reinforcing component (112) to the insert (110) to reinforce the insert (110) against deformation under the application of pressure. An electromagnetic flowmeter assembly is also provided comprising: an insert (110) for insertion into a flow conduit, wherein at least a portion of the insert (110) is formed of a deformable non-ferromagnetic material wherein the insert (110) comprises an inlet section (128), a measuring section and an outlet section (126); at least one reinforcing component (112) surrounding the measuring section of the insert (110) to reinforce the insert (110) against deformation under the application of pressure.
