A base body (1) is mounted on an adjustable stand (4) in a lubricant container (9) and contains a float (2) which after actuation of a suction pump is lowered through a suction pipe (3) and the lowering of the level of the surface to the level of a coolant. After the float and surface have dropped to the level of the coolant any excess coolant flows over the upper edge of the float so that the contaminated surface flows away.
