A series unit (VE) generates a reference signal (REF) for a phase detector (EXOR) in a phase locked loop. With the help of the series unit, relative phase difference is maintained between the reference signal and a feedback signal (FB) within the phase detector's control range between 0[deg] and 180[deg]. An independent claim is also included for a method for electronic control.
