PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an OFDM signal receiver and an OFDM signal receiving method for much more relieving an operation stress of a user by quickly carrying out broadcast channel switching and automatic channel searching. SOLUTION: A sub system provided in addition to a main system wherein IF processing, demodulation processing and decoding are carried out, digitizes an intermediate output signal, classifies the digital signal into a plurality of signals for each frequency bands, and detects the presence/absence of a broadcast wave for each of the bands on the basis of an output signal level.
