PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method to obtain a lightweight mat using a thin unvulcanized rubber sheet. SOLUTION: The production method of the mat is employed to mount a raw fabric of the mat 1 on a porous board 3 turning a pile surface down, the unvulcanized rubber sheet 25 on the raw fabric of the mat 1 to cover the whole surface of a non-pile surface 13 of the whole cloth of the mat 1, and a nonbreathing and heat-resisting film 4 on the unvulcanized rubber sheet 25 to cover the whole of the unvulcanized rubber sheet 25, to suck the raw fabric of the mat 1, the unvulcanized rubber sheet 25 and the film 4 from a bottom side of the porous board 3 through a penetration hole 31 to place the unvulcanized rubber sheet 25 in contact with the non-pile surface 13 of the raw fabric of the mat 1, and to vulcanize the unvulcanized rubber sheet 25.
