PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for assembling a lens frame whose occupying space is small and which can be miniaturized as a lens frame having a diaphragm. SOLUTION: In the lens frame, a sheet type diaphragm plate 51 is attached and fixed on the rear end face of a 2nd group frame 10 holding a 2nd group lens 42. The plate 51 is attached and fixed by a diaphragm plate attaching tool 81 having frame positioning shafts 82 and 83 and diaphragm plate positioning pins 84 and 85. The plate 51 to which a double coated adhesive tape 53 is stuck is inserted through the pins 84 and 85, and positioned by adjusting the center of a central aperture part 51a to a point PO corresponding to an optical axis O. Then, the frame 10 is inserted through the shafts 82 and 83 so as to be positioned at the point PO and made to abut on the plate 51, whereby the plate 51 is attached and fixed on the rear end face 10d of the frame 10 without causing the positional deviation of the aperture part 51a being the diaphragm aperture of the plate 51 in a state where it has no part projecting to the rear face of the frame 10.
