The unpacking and material separation plant for packed foodstuffs has a screw conveyor (3) fitted in the base of a receiving container (1). The screw conveyor by its outlet ends with an angled conveyor (4), the outlet of which is connected to a first shredder (5). The outlet of the shredder is connected to at least one additional angled conveyor (6), and the shredder and/or the angled conveyor has a drain (7) to a collecting basin (8) for the liquid component parts of the shredded product. An Independent claim is included for a procedure for the separating of packed foodstuffs.
