<p>An apparatus for handling ring-shaped items, in particular lorry tyres, is made with a base part (1) that may be put on the lifting forks of a usual forklift truck. A pivotable gripping member (2) is disposed on the base part (2) having jaws (9) with holding means (13) which may get hold of a row of tyres (21). In order to avoid gaps between the tyres (21), and thus mutual displacing of them when depositing the stack of tyres, the gripping part is provided with displaceable and pivotable adjusting members (14, 15) at each end of the gripping part (2). A row of tyres standing on the ground may be pressed together with the adjusting members (14 and 15) into a continuous group which subsequently may be gripped by the jaws and gripping means (13), after which the compressed row may be pivoted to a vertical stack by means of hydraulic cylinders (7) and deposited. By the invention manual adjusting of a stack of tyres is avoided after depositing, as the row of tyres is compressed before gripping, as well as manpower may be saved.</p> |
