A transparent panel, e.g. for a front trim on furniture, has a transparent section (19a) at one end, e.g. the bottom, and a reflecting section (15a) at the other end, e.g. the top. The two sections are linked by sections of varying transparency and reflection to provide a progressive change between the outer sections. The rate of change between totally reflecting to totally transparent is selected to achieve different special effects.
