A current controller (35) generates q-axis and d-axis voltage commands (Vsq*,Vsd*) based on difference between current commands (Iq*,Id*) and current feedback signals (Iq,Id), respectively. A three-phase coordinate converter (19) transforms both q-axis and d-axis current commands into three-phase commands (Vus*,Vvs*,Vws*) used by an inverter (17) for driving a permanent magnet synchronous motor (11). An independent claim is also included for a permanent magnet synchronous motor control method.
