PURPOSE: A nonaqueous electrolyte solution and a secondary battery containing the electrolyte solution are provided, to reduce the generation of gas at a high temperature (85 deg.C) remarkably by using a novolac phenol or multiphenol derivative, thereby preventing the swelling due to the generation of gas of a battery and improving the capacity storage at a high temperature. CONSTITUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte solution comprises a carbonate-based organic solvent mixture where a lithium salt is dissolved; and 0.1-10 parts by weight of a novolac phenol or multiphenol derivative represented by the formula 1, wherein n is an integer of 0-100,000; and X and Y are H, a halogen atom, an alkyl group of C1-C12, an aryl group of C1-C12, an alkenyl group of C1-C12 or a fluorinated low molecular weight alkyl group or phenyl group. Preferably the lithium salt is at least one selected from the group consisting of LiPF6, LiClO4, LiAsF6, LiBF4 and LiN(C2F5SO3)2; and the carbonate-based organic solvent mixture is a mixture of linear and cyclic carbonate-based organic solvents, the cyclic carbonate-based organic solvent is ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate or their mixture, and the linear carbonate-based organic solvent is carbonate dimethyl, carbonate diethyl, carbonate ethylmethyl, carbonate methylpropyl or their mixtures. |
