The invention relates to a heating device for heating a thread especially in a texturing machine. Said heating device comprises a thin-walled heating tube whose circumference can be evenly heated by means of a heating jacket. An insert is inserted in the wall of the heating tube and defines a thread guide having a thread inlet and a thread outlet for guiding the thread. The inventive device is characterized in that the insert is configured by a profiled rod which is open towards one long side and which is adapted with the opposite long side to the wall of the heating tube. The thread guide is thus configured between the open long side of the profiled rod and the wall of the heating tube so that heat can be directly introduced into the thread guide via the wall of the heating tube.
