An input device for feeding back an inner force sense to the user according to an input by a pressing operation to an operation surface. When a pressing operation to the operation surface is on standby, a drive voltage to a piezoelectric actuator is not supplied, and, when a pressing operation is performed at timing T401, a drive voltage is gradually raised. The operation surface is gradually raised as the piezoelectric actuator is bent at this moment. At timing 402, a specified time T1 later, the piezoelectric actuator is abruptly bent in a opposite direction, at timing T403 the operation surface is displaced to the lowest position, and then this position is kept until the pressing operation is terminated at timing T404. With time T1 set sufficiently larger than time T2, a strong inner force sense is given to the user at an opposite-direction displacement effected later rather than at the displacement of the operation surface immediately after a pressing operation. Since the bending direction of the piezoelectric actuator is reversed at the opposite-direction displacement, a large displacement can be provided. Accordingly, an input device can be provided that, although low in power consumption and long in life, has an inner force sensor feedback function capable of giving a more natural operation sense.
