Protection system for road user like pedestrians has vehicle-linked protection devices for detecting the geometrical parameters of road users

First (2) and second (3) sensor devices linked to a control device (4) and to a motor vehicle detect geometrical parameters of road users like pedestrians. Impact devices (4) calculate a road user's/pedestrian's time and point of impact with the vehicle in the event of a collision. The sensor devices include impact sensors. An independent claim is also included for a method for protecting road users with vehicle-linked protection devices for detecting the geometrical parameters of road users.
