The protection for seated personnel in naval ships and military vehicles, at risk from striking mines, is a suspended capsule secured by cables or rods or chains or a release mounting to detach it from the body of the vessel/vehicle and insulate it from the pressure waves of an explosion. The suspension links are broken by an explosive charge when pressure and/or acceleration sensors register the pressure waves from an external explosion. The safety mounting (10) has a pin (12) and a catch pin (14), at a block, riding within an elongated opening at the mounting (13). An explosive charge (11) severs the mounting pin, and the assembly is caught by the catch pin to prevent a free fall.
