In a determination part (161), information indicative of best fits between data to be transmitted and communication systems is set in advance. If there exists any currently available communication system the best fit for which is greater than a predetermined value in terms of relationships between the currently available communication systems and the best fits, then it is used to transmit the data. Otherwise, the data is held in a storage part (140) until there appears an available communication system the best fit for which is greater than the predetermined value, and then transmitted. In this way, there can be realized a multimode communication apparatus wherein effective transmissions of e-mails including various information can be automatically performed without causing users to become conscious of particular communication systems.
