PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone which can start a telephone conversation in comfort by the call origination side and the incoming call side of the telephone which performs a telephonic communication smoothly, and which can alleviate the time and effort of the management of a telephone number. SOLUTION: The portable telephone 40 transmits a request signal 50 which requires the transmission of information showing the telephone number to the portable telephone 42 which holds the information showing the telephone number of the portable telephone 44 of the call originator of the telephone origination, and receives a phone book 52 for browsing which the portable telephone 42 transmits according to the request signal 50. The portable telephone 40 performs the call origination 54 to the telephone number of the portable telephone 44 shown with the phone book 52 for browsing. In this case, the information showing the portable telephone 42 is attached. The portable telephone 42 holds the telephone number of the portable telephone 44 as the phone book, receives the request signal 50 from the portable telephone 40, and transmits to the portable telephone 40 the telephone number of the portable telephone 44 held in the phone book as the phone book 52 for browsing the telephone number of the portable telephone 44 held at the phone book based on the request signal 50.
