A halogen lamp has a glass body (34), a filament (36) and at least one connection zone (30) which comprises at least one filament contact (31) and one end, especially a crimped zone of the glass body. The glass body (34) lies in a cooled region (32), in which during operation of the halogen lamp, the glass temperature of the glass lies beneath a critical temperature, and has a significantly reduced transparency for the emitted radiation. An independent claim is included for a method of manufacturing halogen lamps.
