<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle safety device capable of suitably avoiding collision with an obstacle in response to the traveling state or the stopping state of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: An obstacle distance detection part 1 detects an obstacle distance, i.e., a distance from the obstacle (for example, preceding vehicle) in a traveling direction to the vehicle concerned.
