PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side structure of a railway vehicle capable of ensuring an indoor space defined in the inner side of an interior panel broader, preventing vibration and noise generated on the vehicle body from being directly transmitted into a compartment and further reducing assembling steps of the vehicle to realize cost reduction. SOLUTION: Ends in a longitudinal direction of two sheets of parallel transparent plates 21, 22 for a side window are arranged in the closed state by a shock absorber (rubber body 17) provided on the compartment side of a drift panel 8 and a space between both transparent plates 21, 22 forms a passage 25 for vertically passing conditioned air. It is not required that a standing duct exclusive for the conditioned air is provided between the adjacent side windows 9, 9. The interior panel 20 is also flatly attached along the side window 9 and has no protrusion into the compartment side. Since the interior panel 20 is mounted through the shock absorber, vibration on the vehicle body side is attenuated by the shock absorber and is not directly transmitted to the compartment side.
