The precise wavelength of the LED is determined, before the application of a color conversion agent. A concentration and/or quantity of the conversion agent is then selected as a function of this wavelength, for application. A conventional dispenser or plunger applies the conversion agent, or ink-jet coating is used. In each case the deposit is controlled as described. Deposition takes place from the gas phase, optionally using a photo mask with apertures controlling the deposit. In yet another alternative, the deposit is initially uniform; it is then removed selectively by a laser beam, in accordance with the wavelength measured originally. An independent claim is included for a corresponding white light source based on one or more blue or ultraviolet LEDs. |
