PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data-driven information processor and a method for transferring a data packet in a data transmission path at a high speed. SOLUTION: A branch control unit 10 includes a logic gate 12A and a NAND circuit 12B capable of receiving transfer permission by each branch destination. The control unit 10 further includes transfer request units 13, 14 for receiving respective output from the gate 12A and the circuit 12B. The request units 13, 14 make data transfer requests to branch destinations if either the gate 12A or circuit 12B is activated. Since it becomes possible to make the transfer requests by receiving the transfer permission for each branch destination, the information processor avoids a data waiting state due to data holding states at other branch destinations.
