PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data receiving apparatus which is capable of reducing its total power consumption while surely detecting a reception signal. SOLUTION: In a MODEM 10, an RF unit 16 generates an RSSI signal 36 and a baseband-converted reception signal 34, respectively, a reference voltage value 44 is supplied from a reference voltage output unit 24 to a comparator 20 and if a level of the RSSI signal 36 is greater than the reference voltage value 44 in the comparator 20, a control signal is outputted, respectively to the RF unit 16, an A/D conversion unit 18 and a demodulation circuit 46 of a reception MODEM unit 22.
