PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein the temperature of food stored in a storage chamber rises due to the thermal effect of warm food if the warm food is put in the storage chamber of a refrigerator, which results in the quality degradation of stored food. SOLUTION: A partition space 121 allowing food to be immediately put as it is warm into a freezing chamber is provided in the storage chamber of the refrigerator set to a freezing temperature zone, and the partition space 121 is provided with a cooling unit 22 having a cooling member comprising a vacuum heat insulating material, a cold storage agent and a plate formed of material with high heat conductivity. Consequently, even if the warm food is put in the storage chamber, temperature rise in the freezing chamber outside the space is suppressed by the heat insulating effect of the vacuum heat insulating material, and the heat of the warm food is conducted by the plate formed of the material with high heat conductivity. The heat can be rapidly taken away by the cold storage agent to suppress the temperature rise in the storage chamber. The quality of stored food can thereby be preserved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
