The device has a copper strip (1) fixed on a roof covering unit by small attachments in an overlap area of the unit. Natural rain water dripping on an upstream covering unit (5) charges copper ions in the strip to produce new charged water that protects a downstream covering unit (7). The strip has a width of 5 millimeters and length equal to width of the unit, and each attachment has a length equal to the thickness of the unit.
