<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic accompaniment apparatus capable of appropriately altering the pitch of a note, constituting automatic accompaniment pattern musically. <P>SOLUTION: The note processed by the S33, and corresponding to each of the chord indicated by key strike, a plurality of constitutional sounds, the pitch differences of the pitches to the names of the sound are calculated, and a chord constituting sound list is formed, by listing in the order of nearer pitch (smaller pitch differences) and specifies the top pitch of the chord constituting sound list (S34). The constituting sound list, formed by the S34 process, is stored in the constituting sound memory 9b of the RAM 9.
