MODIFICATION OF WEAK BASE OF POROUS INKJET MEDIUM COATING FOR UPGRADING IMAGE QUALITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a printing medium which is useful for reducing undesirable print artifacts such as bronzing, gloss non-uniformity, print smudge and coalescence.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a printing medium can comprise a step to manufacture a coating composition with acidic pH and a step to coat the printing medium with the coating composition and form an ink acceptance layer on the printing medium. The coating composition can contain an inorganic particle dispersion, a polymer binder and a weak base composed of an alkaline metal/a weak acid salt. The weak base generates a gas bubble in the coating composition because of its acidic pH.
