ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHIC TONER AND METHOD FOR FORMING IMAGE BY USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an invisible image without decreasing the picture quality of a visible image formed together with the invisible image or to form an invisible image in any region independently of a visible image forming region.

SOLUTION: The electrophotographic toner contains IR absorbing particles the surfaces of which are coated with a near IR absorbent having an absorption peak for IR rays in a 800 to 1,250 nm range. When the near IR absorbent is an organic near IR absorbent, it has 10 to 50% absorbance at 380 nm, 10 to 40% absorbance at 780 nm, and ≥5×104(mol-1cm-1dm3) maximum ε (max) of the molecular absorption coefficient. An electrophotographic developer comprising the above electrophotographic toner and a carrier is used.
