PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine kick-back preventing device surely prohibiting ignition at the time of reverse rotation irrespective of a reverse rotation mode and surely preventing kick-back in particular at the time of reverse rotation outside of a protrusion. SOLUTION: An engine comprises a generator 1 connected to a crank shaft of the engine and a rotor rotating in synchronism with the crank shaft, has the protrusion extending on a circumference of the rotor for a predetermined circumference angle, comprises a pulser coil 22 for detecting the protrusion, generates a first pulse when a front end in a rotation direction of the protrusion reaches a detection position of the pulser coil 22 according to rotation of the rotor, generates a second pulse when a rear end in the rotation direction of the protrusion passes over the detection position of the pulser coil 22 and drives an ignition coil 9 through an ignition circuit 7 responsive to the second pulse. The engine kick-back preventing device has a reverse rotation judgment circuit 12 for judging the reverse rotation based on a decreasing condition of a generator output at the time of starting the engine and for outputting an ignition prohibiting signal when the reverse rotation is judged, cancels the ignition prohibiting signal by input of the first pulse and has a reverse rotation misfire circuit 26 for maintaining the ignition prohibiting condition for a predetermined period after the reverse rotation.
