COATING MATERIAL TO FORM NON-MAGNETIC LAYER AND COATING MATERIAL TO FORM BACK LAYER ON MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method of carbon blacks which are excellent in dispersibility, stability, and physical properties for the coated film for improving the flatness and the physical properties of the film of the non-magnetic layer and the back layer of a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: This is a coating material for a magnetic recording medium to form a non-magnetic layer and a magnetic layer in this order on a surface of a base plate and to form a back layer on the other surface. This coating material is a non-magnetic layer forming paint which contains dry processed carbon blacks obtained by dry processing carbon blacks with an organic dye derivative having acidity or a basic fuctional group or a triazine derivative having acidity or a basic fuctional group.
