Class 52(1) A storage cabinet 10 has a door 11 movable about a horizontal axis and having side portions 12 to which is pivotally connected a tray 15 by means of pins 14, the rear of the tray being supported on links 16 having springs to assist return movement and the pins 14 being above the pivot axis of door 11 so that when it is opened the tray is drawn forwardly and lifted initially followed by a slight lowering, the force of gravity thus retaining the arrangement in either open or closed position. Lugs 22 on side portions 12 cooperate with abutment surfaces on the cabinet to form stop means. In a modification, Fig. 3, one or each side wall of the tray has a pin 19 engaging in a slot 20 formed in a plate 21 attached to the side wall of the cabinet instead of links 16. In another modification, Fig. 5, the door may be locked in its closed position by a latch plate 25 pivotable about a fixed pin and pivoted to an axially movable rod by which it can be made to engage a lug 23A on an arm 23 attached to a side portion 12. In a further modification a pivoted latch engages a slot in a side portion 12. |
