PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignitor for an internal combustion engine capable of increasing the startability of the engine by securely supplying power to an ignition circuit and reduced in size and cost. SOLUTION: This ignitor for the internal combustion engine comprises a capacitor for ignition, an ignition circuit, and a power switching circuit. The power switching circuit switches a power supply from a battery to the ignition circuit by a semiconductor switching element. Thus, since the power of the ignition circuit is secured, the startability of the engine can be increased. Also, the power switching circuit can be reduced in size and cost.
