PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus permitting diagnosis of the malignancy of a tumor growing in a region other than an extremely shallow surface layer of a biological tissue. SOLUTION: An endoscope 3 for observing autonomous-fluorescence emitted by a living body comprises an illumination optical system 36 and an objective optical system 32.
