<p>In a process to dry a moving web of wet carton, paper or tissue paper one exposed side of the web is exposed to a continual stream of hot air while the obverse side is supported. After exposure of the first side, the procedure is reversed. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly in which both sides of the web are repeatedly and alternately exposed to hot air. During exposure to the hot air the other side of the paper is supported by a revolving drum forming an air cushion between the drum and web. The air temperature is 150 to 500 C discharged at a speed of 50 to 110 m/s. Prior to exposure to the first hot air treatment the web moisture content is 70 to 85.</p> |
