POLYETHER ESTERS AS FLAME RETARDANTS FOR POLYURETHANE FLEXIBLE FOAMS.

A flexible polyurethane foam meeting the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 302 is obtained by reacting an organic and/or modified polyisocyanate with a specified polyetherpolyol/polyetheresterpolyol mixture and other conventional ingredients. - A flexible polyurethane foam meeting the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 302 is obtained by reacting an organic and/or modified polyisocyanate with (1) a polyol comprising: - (i) a polyetherpolyol of OH number 20-200 mg KOH/g and functionality 204 (90-99 wt.%); and - (ii) a polyetheresterpolyol of OH number 150-450 mg KOH/g and functionality 2-3 (1-10 wt.%) in presence of: - (a) water; and/or - (b) another foaming agent; - (c) catalysts; - (d) stabilizers; and optionally - (e) flame retardants; and - (f) further auxiliaries.
