Class 30 [Also in Group XXV] Each blade of pruning &c. shears comprises a cutter 1, 1a and a support 2, 2a the cutters and support being made of thin sheet metal having mating longitudinal stiffening channels, and being secured together by nuts and screws 8, 7. Stiffening pieces 3, 3a also have a mating channel and are secured by the nuts to extend from the pivot to an intermediate point along the support. Depressions 13, 14, 15 in the cutters, supports and stiffeners receive a ball 12 through which a pivot bolt 4 passes, the blades being rocked on the pivot, to maintain cutting co-operation between the blades, by resilient pressure of a corrugated extension 17 of the cutter 1a on a flat extension 16 of the cutter 1. The supports and stiffeners of each blade are secured to tubular handles 19 into which extension handles can be fitted. |
