FIELD: mechanical engineering; handling of different density sheets without additional adjustments. SUBSTANCE: proposed method of handling paper and cardboard sheets comes to building pressure on part of stack, separating upper sheet by air stream with cutoff, gripping upper sheet, releasing the pressure, straightening the sheet and transportation of sheet over stack surface. Sheet rigidity zone is created by bending at direction of air flow and tensioning between edge of sheet lifted over stack and part of sheet still lying on stack. Tension of sheet is built by increasing speed of displacement of sheet part lying on stack relative to speed of displacement of sheet edge lifted over stack, with subsequent equalizing the speeds to straighten out the sheet. Device for gripping and separating upper sheet from stack and further transportation of sheet, mainly paper or cardboard sheet, has gripping devices secured at different sides from central and furnished with drive to provided their displacement along longitudinal feed axis, blowing device, devices for creating pressure on part of stack and sheet separators. Gripping devices have vacuum sucking cups with movable limiting rings, vacuum sucking cups being arranged inside movable limiting rings, and cylinders with extension-type friction clutches. Cylinders are installed for displacement over upper sheet surface without breaking off and are secured by means of swinging levers provided with slots for support axle in upper part and rollers for running over curvilinear surfaces of followers in lower part.
