The device has an intermediate layer (18) placed between a treating unit (14) and a cylindrical envelope (16). An annular shell (22) has a skirt (24) placed between the layer and the unit, and a convergent section (26) extending the skirt beyond the unit. The section progressive decreases by moving aside the unit. The section causes deviation of exhaust gas at output of the unit, during gas circulation.
