<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup apparatus capable of preventing stray light caused by a light shielding aperture from entering into a light receiving element and performing a stable signal detection. <P>SOLUTION: The light shielding aperture 29 shading needless light other than irradiation light irradiated to the information recording plane of the optical recording medium 33 from a light source 22 and reflected light reflected by the information recording plane of the optical recording medium 33 and received by the light receiving element 23 out of the laser beam emitted from the light source 22 is arranged on an optical path between a hologram element 24 and an optical recording medium 33. A needless light guiding plane 29a guiding needless light other than irradiation light and reflected light to a direction other than the light receiving element 23 is formed at the shading aperture 29.
