PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use information about test prints in a photographic printer and to estimate the cause of an abnormal state of the printer while minimizing a load on work as far as possible. SOLUTION: The photographic printer includes: an exposure head 21 which exposes and forms an image onto a photographic photosensitive material PS; a developing device 23 which develops the photographic printing material PS subjected to exposure by the exposure head 21; and an exposure managing means EC for adjusting the exposure operation of the exposure head 21 by making the test prints. In the photographic printer, the exposure managing means EC is structured so that information relative to device adjustment obtained on the basis of the measurement of the density or colorimetry of the test prints is recorded, stored, and accumulated in a data storage device DS. The photographic printer is provided with an abnormal state analyzing means EA for estimating the cause of the abnormal state of the printer on the basis of the accumulated data on the information relative to the device adjustment.
