PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mark stamping apparatus for a gas container capable of totally automating in such a way that even on the gas container with a different curved face shape on its shoulder, a mark stamping is automatically brought into contact with the tangential direction of a stamping position of the curved face at right angles. SOLUTION: The mark stamping apparatus is equipped with a mark stamping fitting frame 31 freely swingingly fitted on a tip part of a mark stamping supporting member 21 through a pivoting shaft 34, a mark stamping head 37 freely swingingly fitted on the mark stamping fitting frame 31 in the mark stamping arranging direction, and whose mark stamping face 38 is positioned in the neighborhood of the shaft line 34 and approximately in parallel to the shaft line, a balancing means 35 acting so that the mark stamping face 38 approximately faces to the curved face of the shoulder part 51 of the gas container 50, a pressing means for pressing the mark stamping head 37 to the shoulder part 51 of the gas container 50, and a rotating means for the mark stamping head 37.
