PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically produce ethylxylene to be expected hereafter as a raw material for medicines and agrochemicals. SOLUTION: The method for efficiently producing ethylxylene comprises bringing xylene into contact with an aromatic hydrocarbon containing at least one ethyl group in the presence of an acid type zeolite catalyst having at least 12-membered oxygen ring pores.
