<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent following paper from being stained owing to a shift of transfer paper to one side when an image is formed in the entire area of the transfer paper by an image forming apparatus equipped with a plurality of photoreceptor drums. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is characterized in that when the operation mode is a normal print mode, a writing unit of at least one color begins to write an image to a photoreceptor drum before transfer paper where an image is to be formed next reaches a register roller 58, but when the operation mode is an entire-area print mode, on the other hand, the image begins to be written to the photoreceptor drum after a writing start position of the image on the photoreceptor drum is adjusted according to the position of the transfer paper through one-side shifting adjustment.
