An ignition device including cores (20,27) with several primary and secondary laminar magnetic pieces forming a magnetic path, a primary coil (26) which on energizing produces a magnetic flux in the cores, and a secondary coil (24) which induces a voltage because of the magnetic flux. The outer core (27) is formed from alternate stacks (sic) of non-insulated steel plates (27) and double sided insulated Si-steel plates. An independent claim is included for preparation of the device involving production of a dielectric film of thickness 0.5-5 micron.
