PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission including a means for applying a change point of pedal effort in the midway of a stroke made by actuating an accelerator pedal and a means for controlling to perform kick-down on entering a predetermined region where the detection value of accelerator control input exceeds a change point of pedal effort, simply and accurately inspecting on whether the assembling state of a damper is normal or not. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission includes: a means (S1 to S3 in Fig. 4, not shown) for generating a first signal to light a lamp 30 of a display unit 13 on entering a predetermined region where the detection value of the accelerator control input exceeds a change point of pedal effort; a means for generating a second signal to light a lamp 31 of the display unit when the detection value of the accelerator control input reaches a full-acceleration position (S1, S3, S4 in Fig. 4, not shown); and a means for limiting the operation of the above means when a predetermined condition (including on-state of a diagnosis switch 36) is established.
