PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a simulation in which approximate colors and density are changed when specific colors are used to perform N-color print simulation such as two-color printing. SOLUTION: A print job is received. It is checked whether an approximate color simulation is set in an N-color print simulation using specific colors (steps 102, 106 and 110). When the approximate color simulation is set, an L*a*b* value of the specific colors are read from a database, and a specific color of an L*a*b* value approximating to the L*a*b* value is extracted as an approximate color to perform an N-color print simulation using the specific color and an N-color print simulation using the approximate color instead of the specific color (step 118 to 124).
